First Nations Can Use Private LTE to Connect Their Communities

What is Private LTE?

Private LTE networks are built by communities to provide their residents and businesses with high-speed LTE internet. These networks are similar to the public cellular networks that you can connect to with your phone, except these deliver wireless signals directly to a residential household or business and are much more affordable to build than a mobile, cellular network.

Who Can Build Private LTE Networks?

Any organization or community that is looking to improve the internet connectivity in their area can build a private LTE network. It requires technical knowledge of wireless systems and a basic understanding of LTE propagation characteristics. Baicells equipment is built to be "plug-and-play" and is some of the easiest to deploy fixed wireless LTE equipment on the market today. We also work closely with many technology integrators and are happy to work directly with a partner you trust.

How Can a Private LTE Network Help My Community?

Does your community suffer from exceedingly slow, expensive, or non-existent internet connectivity? If the answer is yes, then there's a good chance a private LTE network can help you get started in fixing these problems. Baicells is designed to be incredibly cost-effective, reliable, and easy to setup making it a great solution to get your community high-speed internet, quickly.

I'm More Interested in Getting Fiber Installed.

That's great! Fiber internet can be a great solution for some communities. However, it can take a long time to install and can be very expensive so it might be years before you can get fiber to your entire community! A private LTE network can get your community high-speed internet while you build your fiber network. Private LTE can also reach rural areas much more easily, so in those cases, it might be better to focus on a wireless, private LTE solution. Regardless, private LTE and fiber often exist in harmony and operate alongside one another.

How Can I Get Started with Private LTE for my Community?

As with most things, the first step is going to be education. On it's most basic level private LTE networks require an internet backhaul, a base station, a CPE, and access to wireless spectrum such as 2.5GHz or CBRS.

If you're not sure if private LTE is right for you, feel free to contact us and we'll have a conversation with one of our LTE experts to see if this is the right solution for your community.

What Products Will Help Me Build a Private LTE Network?

Baicells is an international leader in manufacturing private LTE small cells. We've worked with a huge range of wireless network operators and can provide a complete end-to-end solution for almost any internet network deployment. Some of our most popular North American products can be seen below.

How Do All These Products Work Together?

It begins with your backhaul. The backhaul will provide a robust internet connection to your base stations which will broadcast, high-speed reliable internet connectivity to your community via the Customer Premise Equipment (CPEs). The CPEs connect to routers inside the home and just like that you have internet for your residents!

Can you help train me to get started with private LTE?

Absolutely. Our equipment is designed to be plug-and-play but this is an investment into your community. We want to help you succeed and are willing to do whatever it takes to make that reality. Our team will travel to your Nation to train you design, build, and deploy your network.

Baicells eNodeBs (eNBs), also known as base stations, are small cell LTE radios that can broadcast internet signals towards your communities residences or businesses. These base stations can broadcast internet connectivity for several miles, even through trees, to connect rural and remote locations with reliable, high-speed internet.

Baicells CPEs......

The Customer Premise Equipment (CPEs) are installed at a residence or business and can pick up the signals being broadcast by the base station. It takes the internet signal, and provides it to the router within the home, converting the LTE signals to Wi-Fi that can connect consumer devices.

Baicells Routers......

The routers take the internet signals that are captured by the CPE and convert it into the common Wi-Fi you use every day. It's important to note that you do not have to use a Baicells router to connect to a private LTE network, any router should be up to the task.

Have You Worked With First Nations?

We have. Baicells goal is to connect the unconnected via private LTE networks. We do this because we believe that the internet is a right for all humans. We've worked with communities across the world, to bring Internet to their communities.

Tohono O'odham Nation

The Tohono O'odham Nation has been striving to bridge the digital divide in its community for the past 15 years. Today the Nation boasts 100% of the community is connected to high-speed internet.

The Tohono O'odham Utility Authority leveraged fixed-wireless technology and fiber to make their dream a reality.

Our team traveled to the Nation to hear the story of how the organization used a clever combination of 2.5 GHz spectrum, CBRS, and fiber to build a robust internet network that will stand the test of time.

Nebraska Indian Community College

In 2020 the world shut down and people who didn't have access to a reliable internet connection lost access to the outside world.

The Nebraska Indian Community College needed to get its students back online to get their futures back on track.

The university deployed a private LTE network that used 2.5 GHz spectrum to reach out into their community and provide their students with a reliable remote learning solution.
